Catching up

On July 23, 2010, Benji got on one knee and asked for my hand in marriage. His plan was absolutely perfect, and he could not have surprised me anymore than he did. We had planned a "vacation" weekend after the numerous busy weekends of traveling to weddings and everything under the sun. I wanted to do something adventurous like go canoeing or possibly ski diving. I told Benji I would love to take a weekend off and do something super fun. He jumped at the opportunity to plan this weekend (very weird, but that he was paying haha). His clues for the next two weeks were sun and sky. I just KNEW I was going sky diving! I was so excited to be going sky diving-- the wind in my hair, thousands of miles between me and the ground! But.... on Thursday before my hopefully dive in the sky, Benji called to tell me his mother needed us to go fix his grandparent's pier at their lake house in Louisiana. My thought was seriously? I was not a happy camper, and I continued to pout till that Friday when we packed our bags to travel to my not-so-wonderful work weekend. His cousin Courtney and Matt were going to join us as well to help with this task, and I still continued to be a big baby about everything.

We finally got to the lake house and his cousin Courtney was there taking pictures for the before and after shoot of the pier. I was pouting even more by this time. Benji asked me to come see something at the end of the pier, and I continued to pout all the way to end of the pier. Benji told me to close my eyes, and I seriously thought he was about to push me in the water. I braced myself for the worst, and peeped with one eye to see if he was going to push me over. With one eye opened and probably the worst face in the world, I was staring at Benji on one knee saying "I love you Deborah" and a whole bunch of other words that I do not remember. I was in TOTAL SHOCK!! His cousin, who is an amazing photographer, captured every moment that day. It was priceless (from the months of planning, the beautiful ring he designed and picked for me, the entire planned "Vacation" weekend, and the pictures). I still cannot believe we're actually getting married!
